Christmas Blues

For many people Christmas brings happiness; but Christmas can also be a difficult time. If you are grieving or are feeling sad or depressed, know that you are not alone.

Trinity Lutheran Church will host a Blue Christmas worship service on Sunday, December 18, at 2:30 p.m. The service will acknowledge feelings of sadness or loneliness and offer support through worshipping together. Know that your presence there can also be a support to others. All in the community is welcome, so please invite your friends and family to attend this special service with you.

Here are a few things to remember as Christmas comes near:

Be kind to yourself. Don’t be afraid to simplify your plans this year.

Share your feelings with family and friends. It’s healthy to talk about it.

Look for ways to reach out to others. Looking past ourselves and doing acts of kindness for others often help us feel better. If you are homebound, you can still pray for others, and you can reach out by phone, email, or text.

Be grateful for each day. Remember, and share your good memories of loved ones and Christmases past.

Try to get regular exercise. It can be very beneficial for emotional health.

Take time to worship and pray. Remember that God loves you and walks with you.
